Flowers Residence

In this 1890’s farmhouse a design by Derrick Wettstein expanded and combined the existing kitchen, mudroom, pantry area and hallway into one luxurious space for cooking, eating and relaxation. Sustainable building practices helped to guide the project. The existing flooring, appliances and additional radiators were donated for reuse and the new oak flooring and rough hewn oak beams were salvaged from barns. Spray foam insulation in the floors, walls and ceiling create a tight and efficient building envelope while ceiling vents allow the wood burning stove to passively heat the bedroom above.
